Indeed, men dominated the noir-genre, but there has been great female writers, e.g. please have a look at the anthology “Troubled Daughters, Twisted Wives” or the collection of eight novels “Women Crime Writers” by Sarah Weinman. And there are great female writers like Sara Paretsky or Christa Faust.
