Parent's play a prominent role in molding and constructing their child's development. Parenting style has been widely researched for many years. Each parent has a Different strategy to raise their children for their healthy growth. Kids Growth and their behaviour both are related to parenting styles. Experts have identified evident pattern styles that influence the kids.

In 1966, psychologist Baumrind classified three main types of parenting styles: Authoritative, Authoritarian, permissive. parenting style focuses on two major characteristics of parenting: parental responsiveness and parental demandingness. While there is no perfect way to raise your children, it involves some other factors like genetics, cultural environment but it is very important to consider the right parenting style for your children’s healthy growth and development. Among all 3 parenting styles, Authoritative occurs as a very profitable parenting style for kid’s better development and progress. Here is how each parenting style can affect your child achievement

Authoritative:

Authoritative parenting is a more adaptable way of parenting in which parents allow their children for sufficient independence but are careful to provide reasons for restrictions they put on them. Authoritative parenting strengthens personal and social responsibility in adolescents. Kids raised by authoritative parents are less prone to anxiety and depression. Authoritative parents empower autonomy and encourage their child to achieve high in their academic skills.

According to the experts, the authoritative parenting style has been demonstrated to have positive child outcomes, even across cultures and across ages of children. Authoritative parents have rules and restrictions but they also consider their child’s opinions and desires. Among all 3 parenting styles, the authoritative parenting style is the most successful. Authoritative parents act as role model for their child to develop social skills and their academic performance. Children of Authoritative parents have the freedom to make their decision on their own, this freedom develops capabilities of accomplishing things on their own.

Effects of Authoritative parenting style on kids:
Children raised by Authoritative parents are more confident, responsible and have incredible performance in school.

Experts show that kids who view their parents as authoritative are naturally happier and function proficiently in a variety of skills.

Children of authoritative parents are promising in their social skills and are mature enough to make their decision based on their wisdom.

Authoritarian:

This style of parenting demands high expectations and low responsiveness. Authoritarian parents are harsh and strict towards their children. Authoritarian parents believe that children should follow their rules without any exception. If their child fails to obey their rules they may punish them instead of reasoning and explaining. children grown by Authoritarian parents are more likely to become hostile and apathetic. Authoritarian parents don't ponder their child's needs, rather they yell and strike on their children.

Authoritarian parents are usually more controlling than Authoritative parents, they often make their child follow their rules using hazards and shaming. Kids raised by Authoritarian parents tend to be appreciative, highly obedient and modest but not happy and confident as a result they frequently experience depression and anxiety. According to psychologist Diana Baumrind (1960), Authoritarian parents don't motivate their child to explore and function independently.

Parenting style is highly related to child consequences. children of such parents don't perform well in their social and academic skills. Consequently, they suffer from low self-esteem and are more resentful.

Effects of Authoritarian parenting style on kids:

Children of Authoritarian families have very low self-esteem, they continuously struggle with anger management and resentment.

Children raised by authoritarian parents are timid due to this they endure difficulty in interacting with their peers.

Authoritarian parenting style sometimes results in extreme antisocial and self-destruction behaviour in children.

Permissive:

According to Baumrind, Permissive parents are Warm and Nurturing towards their kids. This parenting style consists of little to no rule. They often appear as friends rather than parents however, Permissive Parents prioritise their child's freedom over establishing responsibilities. Generally, Permissive parents can be represented as showing a low level of demandingness and a very high level of responsiveness. In this type of parenting style, parents grant their child to actively engage without being concerned about their acts.

As per Baumrind strategy, permissive parenting due to lack of involvement and unnecessary amenity children fail to understand emotional control and endurance. In this kind of parenting style adolescents tend to be low in academic skills and sustain low self-esteem. Permissive parents are highly supportive; they do not impose any limits on their children and punishment is prohibited in this form of parenting.

After extensive research, It is stated that in some cases due to lack of self-control and self-discipline children adopt awful behaviour such as consumption of drugs and alcohol. Children raised by permissive parents often show aggressive and impulsive behaviour when confronted with an undesirable situation.

Effects of permissive parenting style on kids:

Because of low expectations and high freedom, children are unable to control their desires and wants and become highly aggressive in behaviour.

Children of lenient parents exhibit poor performance in social skills and achieve low academic performance.

Due to lack of impulsive control, children are prone to delinquency. They may become addicted to drug and alcohol use and even other forms of misconduct.

Which parenting style is more effective:

According to Experts, Authoritative parenting is the most effective style of Parenting. Authoritative parents have high expectations from their kids while also being kind and flexible to their children when they make any mistakes. This style of parenting uses positive discipline tactics to enhance good behaviour.

Children raised by such parents are liable to become responsible as a grown-up. If their child makes any mistake Authoritative parents listen and guide them instead of granting punishment. They praise their children for their accomplishments. Authoritative parents set realistic and fair expectations for their children. This parenting style is proven to be most rewarding and beneficial among all other parenting styles.
