The end of the beginning
Hey there -
My name is Kristen and I’m a health and wellness enthusiast, with a passion for movement, design and life’s beauty. I’ve spent the last 4 years teaching yoga in Chicago and can say without a sliver of doubt that I’m proud of how much I’ve grown. I was once a woman, terrified of expressing herself in an authentic way, let alone sharing personal stories in front of a large audience. With time and a great deal of practice I’ve overcome the fears and anxieties of public speaking. I routinely share stories [in my yoga classes] about the day-to-day challenges we all face and the lessons I’ve learned from these experiences. I’m not telling you this because I’ve perfected the art of teaching yoga or feel like I’ve reached this enlightened state. As a matter of fact, I feel like I have more to learn and more potential for growth than ever before. My hope is that in sharing these stories, my students, and anyone whose open to change will feel empowered and confident enough to express themselves in a similar way.
About three months ago I wholeheartedly committed to a new challenge and enrolled in a 12-week User Experience Design program. Why UXD, you say? Well, I’m looking for a new challenge and this program seemed to fit the bill. I will do my best to apply the skills I’ve acquired through teaching and studying yoga and use this platform to record my journey. My goal is that three months from now I will have learned a new set of skills, created a portfolio of work I am proud of, and developed a network of people in the UX community who will support me in my future endeavors. Until then, I’ll leave you with this quote…
“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”
-Winston Churchill
