Below is the email I just sent to all Super Evil Megacorp staff as a result of President Trump’s Executive Order on immigration. Not a mail I ever expected to need to write.

Hi guys,

Yesterday President Trump issued an executive order to limit entry to the United States to citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. This includes existing holders of green cards and other valid visas. This applies to dual citizenship holders also. (British / Iraqi for example). The full text of the Executive Order is below:

This is pretty serious. For example, IraqiZorro of Gankstars is no longer allowed to travel to the USA to play [at Vainglory championships]. Google has also reacted by recalling some traveling staff as a result:

For the many migrants, green card holders (such as myself), and holders of various visas at Super Evil Megacorp at the Lair and around the world the fact that something like this can happen is pretty scary. Both the order itself and all the rhetoric around it.

I am certain that cooler heads will prevail and that the checks and balances in the US system of government will ensure that the United States will revert to its status as a defender of equality and justice of all. Meanwhile, to anyone concerned about this; know that I will personally use all resources at my disposal to shield any staff and their families who might feel vulnerable as a result.

Whatever your political affiliation or beliefs, discrimination or persecution of individuals on the basis of religion, ethnicity, national origin or anything else for that matter is simply not OK anywhere, ever. There’s a well known poem by Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about a different time in a different country that I think captures my sentiments about this:

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me.”
