In no particular order

  1. Jack Preston King. He writes a bunch of great essays and is currently working on his next book. You should read all of it. But my favorite piece by Jack is his poem “How Men Die.” It’s breath-taking. I’ve read it now a thousand times and you should, too. (I know for certain my friend, Steve Moore, would love this poem. Steve is great poet, too, but unfortunately not on Medium.)

2. Gutbloom. If you have a weird sense of humor and like to laugh A LOT, check him out. There are a few lines in every story that literally make me laugh out loud. If I had to pick my favorite, I’d usher you over to “Let’s Make Fun of a State: Texas.” And as for commenting on other people’s stories, he’s a master. Have fun weeding through all that on his profile page! I’m chuckling now just thinking about all the crazy stuff Gutbloom has written.

3. Mad. She’s my kid, and she has a great voice. Her poetry is far better than anything I could ever write. “Summer Cravings” is excellent. Oh, to be 22 again. I love you, baby.

4. Dan Moore. Dan’s now rockin’ it as the editor of P.S. I Love You and doing a fabulous job. He’s also written some amazing stories. Damnit, it’s so hard to pick a favorite (of his or anyone’s), but please read “A Letter to My Grandfather Whom I’ll Never Forget.” Heart-warming stuff.

5. M. Edward Alexander. Another great poet! I wish people got paid a ton of money on here somehow for writing poems. It’s weird to me that all of this free. Go on a poem hunt and be delighted!

I love M. Edward’s “I Suffer with Pleasure.”

6. Benjamin Sledge. I miss you, Ben! Ben has helped me out immensely as the editor of Heartsuppot, and he’s both a talented writer and editor. See below for my favorite story of Ben’s.

I have SO many more, but I’m out of time…I’ll write a new post soon with all the rest. Happy reading, y’all!!!
