Merry Christmas Eve ↟

Preparing for both the holidays and a trip to South America has my mind torn. Wrapping paper and sandals, christmas music and sunscreen. But then again, I’m thankful to have these problems.

Today I decided which book I am going to read before my trip. The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down, by Anne Fadiman, is a story of cultural clashing between American doctors and a refugee family from Laos regarding the case of a Hmong child with epilepsy. I’m not much of a “read for pleasure” kind of girl, but this book seems like it could be interesting. Sounds like the kind of story where a bunch of Americans assume they’re right because they’re American, again.

On another note, I’ve never written one of these before. I’ve always been the type of person who has never even let anyone proof read anything I’ve written. Hell, I don’t even like re-reading what I’ve written. So naturally, here I am starting a blog.
