The Requirements for American Heart Association CPR Instructors
To be a certified cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) instructor through the American Heart Association (AHA), candidates must be at least 18 years old, have a current provider card and healthcare experience. CPR instructor candidates have healthcare experience such as emergency medical technician (EMT), paramedic, registered nurses (RN), etc. According to the AHA, any member of the resuscitation team can apply to become a certified instructor, but candidates must demonstrate competency of CPR skills.
