7 Ways European Airports are Superior to U.S. Airports
As a long-term expat, I’ve spent a lot of time on the road and in the air. But today is the day I’m writing this long-overdue article about all the ways Europe crushes America when it comes to airports. Maybe it was my experience traveling to Trondheim, Norway via Florida, Atlanta, and London over the past 24 hours, but I couldn’t go to sleep without getting this off my chest. So, before I slip into a jet lag-induced coma, let’s get into it.
1. Free High-Speed WiFi
First things first — connectivity. WiFi in U.S. airports is slow to non-existent (even in lounges). By contrast, every airport I’ve ever flown through in Europe has a fast and free connection option for everyone — that actually works. I clocked a download speed of 100mbps in Munich once. Meanwhile, I still manage to get stuck in black holes at U.S. airports without functional WiFi or a cell phone signal.
