The desire to travel is part of our shared human DNA. Although you may be at home right now with a disheveled workspace, negative bank account, and a kid attached to your hip, chances are you’re still fantasizing about your next trip. But figuring out which countries are open and closed is a mission in and of itself. Travel restrictions and advisories change on an almost daily basis. The future of international travel is unclear, but I’m here to provide some context and answers as to when and where you can travel next.

This article contains:

  • An overview of the different travel bans by region;
  • A list of countries currently open;
  • A summary of Europe’s re-opening plan;
  • A list of resources where you can check the current status of any country, anytime;
  • My recommendation on if you should travel internationally in 2020.

(Note: A 14-day self-quarantine is currently recommended or required in almost every country worldwide, with some exceptions within the EU’s Schengen Area.)
