The protagonist in Catch 22 by Joseph Heller is Yossarian who was the lead bombardier in the 256th squadron. His age is 28 years old and he used to be super precise about hitting his targets but now he only wants to live.

Yossarian so far in the book sounds like an anti hero because he breaks sosial norms and sounds threatening. Yossarian is the main character in catch 22 and he is a so called “Foil”. A foil in a character analysis is the writer of the story making a contrast with the main character to make them stick out more in the story.

We hear Yossarian being described in 3D because we hear how he is as an character through the start of the book. In the very start we hear about Yossarian who is in the military hospital because he was faking about his pain in his liver. The reason for him faking the pain was to stay out of the war and this novel was made as an anti war novel in the 1960s. But every time his squad got a new assignment he chose to come to help his mates.

Yossarian as a character has many different traits because he is stubborn to his generals by the way he is disrespectful to them. He was also intelligent because he chose to go back to the military hospital to not be in the second world war, but that could also make him a coward.

The way i see it from the start of the book about the conflict of this story told through the main character Yossarian. As it looks so far throughout the start of the book we see how the men and woman had it in world war two. The conflict of this book shows really how people was effected by war. We see this every time Yossarian was in the hospital with all the physically and mentally effected.
