I don’t think this piece dispels the “Bernie Bro” “myth” (just because people are jerks to female Bernie supporters doesn’t mean people aren’t also jerky to Hillary supporters). What it DOES do is illustrate – yet again – that there are complete assholes online who will say nasty, sexist, often-incoherent things to anyone for just about any reason. Women who like Hillary are targets. Women who like Bernie are targets. Women who like things that are things other people don’t like are targets. And while vitriol aimed at women SOMETIMES comes from women, it usually comes from men.

All THAT said, to the dudes here who are like “no huh uh there isn’t a patriarchy neener-neener” (I paraphrase), just what is it then that makes a guy think it’s totally okay to respond to Emily as they did? To IMMEDIATELY objectify her?
