The author’s research illuminates a long history by corporations and organization of misusing Myers-Briggs. The strength of MBTI isn’t so much in the survey, it’s in the concepts it offers in understanding human nature and relationship. The executive or organization who successfully uses MBTI does not just run around giving others the survey and collecting labels. They understand the wholeness of the theory and use it as a working guide to self-awareness, relationship, and conflict. It is not a short-cut to evaluating prospective partners or relationships, although it gets used that way over and over, much the way we rely on credentials on a resume to guarantee acuity and expertise.
