Weeknotes, Season One, Episode Three
Introducing… POWER NOTES

This is my third episode of Weeknotes, covering my third week as a new Account Manager at Delib. I’ve really enjoyed writing them, it’s been helpful for me, possibly more than anyone else, (although my Medium stats are creeping slowly upwards, which must be a good sign).
That said, only three weeks in, the one constant is that I have found it hard to make the time to write these. My lovely boss and fellow Weeknoter Lou has encouraged me to make time in the workday on a Friday afternoon to write these, but in previous weeks I’ve not done that, but chosen to do them over the weekend. I’m fine with that, and let’s be honest, surely at least 30% of any Weeknoters Weeknoting time is actually spent trying to find the best Gifs whilst pretending to also watch something on telly on a Sunday evening.
Just me? Oh.
Except this weekend it won’t be fine, because I’m going camping.

I found a Nuts in May Gif!
So I will be in a field all weekend and into the bank holiday.
So these will be POWER NOTES.
POWER NOTES are the Weeknotes version of a Power Lunch. They have Power Lunches in Sex and the City.

3,2,1 GO!
Monday:
It’s a drizzly Monday Morning. A two-coffee morning. We have a weekly stand up and it seems that lots of people will be out this week. I’m tasked with taking on support tickets and trying to solve them on my own. We have the weekly product meeting, which is interesting. I learn that conscious effort goes into trying to not send emails at Delib, which I have noticed. Not counting emails in from the support system, I reckon I get no more than 10 emails a day. I thought this was because I’m new, but maybe not. 10 or fewer emails a day is a really small number of emails and I’m sure is a huge time saver.
I book in my first in person meeting with a customer today, for next week.
Tuesday:
We have a site deployment tomorrow and I’m keen to get to grips with what that involves. It feels like suddenly there is a lot going on, and it becomes quite busy on support. I’m getting into it and feel able to deal with a fair amount of it independently, which is nice. At least twice today I need help from Shaney in Development. I watch over her shoulder as she diagnoses things. It’s kind of like detective work, and I like it. We get most things solved by the end of the day, although by the end of the day I’ve done very little that was actually on my to do list.
Wednesday:
Site deployment today and I cycle in thinking about that. I arrive to work to three new support queries which means I don’t get to start the day in an organised way. Most of the team are out, but Nat is really helpful, and we get through things.
A lot gets done today, but it feels hard at times, and a bit confusing, and I feel bad for how many times I interrupt Nat to ask for help.
Thursday is a much better day. I start the day talking with the new customer, who is lovely. I do a fair bit of support, but also manage to close some down from earlier in the week that have definitely been sorted now.
Later on in the day I finally get onto a task which Lou put onto my to do list last week. It’s a bit of a thinker this task, and this week hasn’t given me a great deal of time to stop and think, and I’m not feeling very clever today.

But I think I manage it OKish.
Friday: It’s a sunny day and nearly the long weekend. The office is really quiet, and, as I type this at 17:26 Friday - not a single support query came in today, which is a treat for sure!
I get loads done, and I also get myself ready for next week - which for me starts on Wednesday.
That’s IT!

But despite very kind and welcome help from Sam Villis last week, I still haven’t worked out hot to add captions to my gifs.
Yes, these are a little rough and ready, but they are POWER NOTES and I’m going camping now OK?! BYE!
