Hello Guys! It’s Magnus again! Hope you all been doing good !! So without any further ado let’s get started with today’s topic — Pokemon Unite World Championship.

Pokemon Unite hosted its first ever World Championship in 2022 at London. The tournament boasted a massive prize-pool of 500,000 USD. Best teams from across the world gathered at the arena to fight for claiming the throne of being the best in the world. Each and every team which played at the stage had to qualify through regional qualifiers. Regions which took part in the event include — Asia Pacific, India, South America East , North America, Europe, Japan and Korea.
Note :- 3 teams from South America West, Central America and Mexico withdrew their participation due to VISA issues.

GROUP STAGE :-

13 teams had been divided into 4 groups of 4 teams each. Single round Robin format was followed. All the matches played were in a Best of 3 format. Top 2 teams from each group advanced into playoffs.
Group A :-
T2, No Show, Orangutan, Revenant Esports.
Group B :-
Eternity, Renaissance, Secret Ship.
Group C :-
Iclen, Apprentice Unleashed, BLVKHVND.
Group D :-
IX Gaming, Nouns Esports, XIS .

TEAM INDIA'S RUN AT THE EVENT :-

Our Indian representative, Revenant Esports went undefeated and did not lose a single match in the Indian qualifiers. However, in the international stage, the stakes were bigger and unfortunately, our Indian rep could not win a single match and lost all the three matches against other teams in their respective group, hence denying them a playoffs spot. However, the team managed to take a map off from No Show, with Crowley emerging as the MVP of that specific map.

PLAYOFFS :-
Teams which made it to playoffs :-
T2, Nouns Esports, Renaissance, No Show, BLVKHVND, ICLEN , IX Gaming and Eternity.
BLVKHVND went on undefeated in all their matches and secured a Grand Finals spot. However they lost a map to No Show, The Korean Giants. Nouns Gaming lost their first matchup against T2 and were sent to the Lower Bracket . They dominated the lower brackets and went on to claim their spot at the Grand Finale of the tournament.

GRAND FINALS :-

Surprisingly, BLVKHVND did not have to struggle much against Nouns Gaming and dominated the match in a 3–0 final scoreline (the match was played in a Best of 5 format) thus brining North America their first ever World Championships Trophy in Pokemon Unite.

As time passes by, Pokemon Unite is expected to hold their 2023 World Championship at Tokyo, Japan. Next year, fans are expecting even more competition from the teams and a much more developed competitive ecosystem.
