I agree with your points about the issue of giving equal weight to comments and recommendations in our streams to the posts by authors we follow.

In addition to that I feel that now we will see the volume of posts increase with with the new in-line editor and those will push the meatier posts out of our stream much quicker as well, thus making them harder to discover.

Akin to your slice and dice feature I think that possibly creating a way to filter or segregate these in-line posts from full editor/Titled content in the stream/post listings (along with comments and recommendations) would be one way to mitigate the issue.

It’s nice to see that Ev recognizes the issue and is thinking about it after reading your post. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Medium team addresses this.
