My parents had a house with a deep basement, probably about 10 feet. The stairs going into said basement had open risers. This scared me because I thought the gorilla that lived under the stairs was going to grab me by the ankles. Then I would fall down the stairs and be crushed, or the gorilla would haul me off through the stairs to some creepy place and eat me!
