  1. What is Global Shapers Kathmandu Hub?
    Global Shapers Kathmandu Hub is part of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum.
  2. What age range can you apply to Global Shapers Kathmandu Hub?
    One must be between 18 and 27 years (starting 18 and up to 27 years, 265 days) can apply. Note you still need to be 27 by the time your probationary period is completed or by January end of 2023.
  3. What is the membership fee?
    New members pay a fee of Rs. 25,000 for their first year and from the following year an annual fee of Rs. 15,000.
  4. Why do we need to pay a membership fee?
    The membership fee covers hub meetings, admin expenses, and supporting hub initiatives. Read more about the usage of hub funds in our hub charter.
  5. Can I start a new project as a new member?
    Yes, you can start a new project as a new member of a team you formed, and the idea has to be aligned to the principle of I-SHAPE (Inclusion, Skills, Health, Aid, Planet and Engagement). One cannot start new projects during the probationary phase. There is also an internal process for development and approval of new projects.
  6. How are projects sponsored?
    The projects are sponsored based on the membership fee we contributed, and the team can apply for projects to receive grants from other organizations or could do a cross-hub collaboration for projects as well.
  7. What can I gain from being a member?
    You get an opportunity to work with young leaders. You get to meet diverse youth and grow your personal and professional connections. You develop your leadership potential by engaging in national, regional and international initiatives. You have access to a community of like-minded peers. You get a safe space to experiment and explore your interest and creativity in way that creates impact.
  8. How many members are there currently in the hub?
    There are currently a total of 31 members in the hub.
  9. Is this a full-time responsibility?
    No, this is not a full-time responsibility.
  10. How much time do I need to dedicate after being a member?
    There is a minimum attendance requirement for hub meetings, and you are expected to actively participate in hub socials. There can be special provisions for those who are on probation.
