I remember when Werner Vogels was championing statically generated sites (e.g using Jekyll). Things like comments were a 3rd party service (e.g Discus), so it was really easy to scale say your blog to handle millions of visitors.

Now he’s going serverless :P

BTW Werner is a pretty cool guy, got to talk with him a bit after an AWS event in Sydney when he dropped around Fishburners back in the early days and he gave a little presentation. I remember he and the OrionVM guys had a great discussion, one of the few that actually went over my head and was deep into the specifics of routers within datacenters.

Being over 7months since you went, do you still feel AWS Re-Invent was worth going to?
