Really enjoyed reading the article.
Especially the part about Ahmdal’s law, whose application, I think, cuts across all kinds of processes, not just computing.
For instance, I have a store where customers spend 10 minutes at the checkout counter. I am able to optimize 50% (5 minutes) of that process by a factor of 4 to 1.25 minutes. The total time spent at checkout will now be 6.25 minutes, which is a speedup of the entire process by a factor of 1.6. So Ahmdal’s still reigns supreme
