The image here is a bit funny, as the driver is laughing standing near a toppled truck. This is a usual sight in my country. Many accidents happen as the life of a truck driver is very stressful and they drive continuously for hours in order to get the consignment delivered in time.

As per a study, road accidents in India increased to 1.49 lacs for the year 2018. Well, the number is definitely big, but can we do something in order to minimize the count. Now, the idea is definitely Self-Driving Cars/Trucks on which we study a lot these days. Definitely, they are problem, if we consider about jobs as more truck drivers will lose their jobs. But, I have found that every new technology creates more new jobs than eliminating a few ones.

Definitely, this is going to be reality in a future. It is not in our hands to stop this, as the idea is getting bigger day by day and one day it is going to be a reality. But what we can presently do is at-least build a model in our trucks which can raise an alarm and hence help the driver to not fall asleep and be alert on the road.

I am learning about this from Adrian Rosebrock (founder of pyimagesearch.com). If implemented, this is definitely going to create a revolution and more importantly save lives(most important).

In the next article, we will go into the detail of how technology can simply save lives.
