Andela Bootcamp Challenge Day 1

My bootcamp challenge didn’t start today. It started that day when i received the mail for invitation to the bootcamp describing all the challenges to be solved throughout the bootcamp period.
As described in Andela expectations document, Andela is a sprint, followed by a football match and then a winning dance at the roof top. I won’t be wrong to say this is the sprinting part. But with rules bent a bit-You are allowed to start the race before the stated time. Very nice, uh??
With the go ahead I jumped on. Challenge 1 wasn’t very challenging, the difficulty came in when setting up TravisCI. It was my first time using such a web tool for contionus integration and test driven development. After going through some learning materials and tutorials I managed to have my badge read build | passing.
The problem came in where i tried to work with branching in Github. After merging a branch i had created ( design-branch) and run a commit and pushed the repo to Github, TravisCI build changed to failing. My excitement reduced drastically. pheeew!!
Tried again, same build failing results. I tried to retrace what I had done but to no good. Clock ticking, 2:30 a.m in the morning and am confused. Tests running and passing well locally but in TravisCI failing. My first place to run to was stackoverflow, no similar question, so I asked mine. Responses I got weren’t helpful, matters made worse when my question was down voted :(
It took a lot of my time and brain power. Finally I decided to delete the repo and create a new one and follow steps to last successful build without using another branch. Now it’s okay but am still wondering and researching what the problem was so as not to repeat a similar mistake.
Day coming to an end. Working on the next challenge.
