Also, Bernie attacking her, that doesn’t make her go rightward. How would it?
Because him framing her further and further right of where she actually is creates a public perception & narrative that criticizes her for things that aren’t true. Him positioning her as if she’s in cahoots with Wall Street to secretly exploit citizens is pushing her to the right (in public perception).
Him being conciliatory, that makes her drift left? How?
It’s not being conciliatory that pulls her to the left, it’s saying things like “she’s not aiming high enough with her policies” that does. Like I wrote in my piece.
Perhaps the bigger issue is that Hillary drifts based upon where the political wind pushes her. Bernies distinct lack of drift is his most appealing characteristic.
See, I can’t take you seriously on this because “Bernie’s distinct lack of drift” is nonsense. He wasn’t even a Democrat until about six months ago! He drifts constantly in pretty big ways, they’re just not the ones you might be looking at.
For instance, he voted against gun control 50% of the time. He was super hawkish but brags about “not voting for Iraq” (something to read up on regarding that, btw). He repeatedly insults black voters across America but talks about a “revolution of the people.”
I’m not against Sanders, but I am against excessive hyperbole positioning him as some clean, spotless, perennially-consistent candidate who cannot be criticized.
