Rhett McLaughlin i agree that white supremacy needs to be criticised. But here is the thing, destroying a statue destroys that avenue. Its kind of like burning a book or wiping a hard disk, it does not mean the memmory is erased. It means that you stopped engaging with that idea and to that extent people who believe in that idea, your fellow country men/women. The prime example is that statue, if it did not exist what would you have torn down? if tomorrow there were a female African American president which statue would you find to hang a “we won!” board around? I think that physical violence(which vandalism is a form of) signals an impotency of thought. Its only when you stop thinkging that you start flailing. I hope I am not being dis respectful of your culture, but distroying that statue(s) is not the way to go if you want to engage with the racists in your country.
