Japanese national census provides population by cities and by professions that shows which cities the artists prefer.

The table above contains the top 30 area with high percentage of living artist. Most area are around megacities especially Tokyo, but there are some local area that artists prefer in the table.

For example, Ooshika, Nagano is the village of ex-hippies. They built the eco-village area, and it still exists nowadays.

Narusawa village near Mt.Fuji is also with top-50 of high percentage of artists. There are a community established by New Yorker.
