This is where we get back to where we started — 1984 and George Orwell. Although this time, the point is the opposite of Orwell’s; simpler language is bad. People seem to want complexity and abstract words. If they don’t get it, the crowd screams, a 6.9 megabytes Mac app could make 1984 a reality.

Your app is the first example many people have seen of a text editor that restricts vocabulary to a preselected group of words. Obviously your app reminds people of Newspeak from 1984. By summarizing the negative responses to your app that reference 1984 with “simpler language is bad,” you’re providing a perfect example of the dangers of a limited vocabulary.
