Don’t burden your Passion !!

Q. Do You Have a Passion in Life ?
A. ummm…Maybe ?
Q. Well there must be something you love doing ?
A. Ya I love riding Bikes , Love playing football and shredding on my Guitar and yeah you know stuff like that.
Q. All that is fine but when are you gonna figure out your one true passion and do something with it ?
A. I don’t know.I already do the things i love doing. What more is there to it ?
What more indeed.I mean the thing about passion is to just follow it regardless of the end result. isn’t it ?
Allow me to elaborate.
Do you remember the time when you were engrossed in a Video Game so deep, you forgot to eat ?
Or
the time when you connected with a book to such an extent or in general loved it so much (Harry Potter anyone ?) that you just had to finish it before keeping it down ?
Or
Learnt to play a riff on your guitar and just could not get enough of playing it over and over
Or
got your dream camera for your birthday and could not stop clicking
Or
Doted over a person so much, he/she seemed like the only one in this world.
Basically the things which made you forget the world , sucked you in your zone and just let you be.
The Pragmatists will tell you that all of these feelings were insignificant and fleeting but make no mistake , it was passion.
Pure and simple.
It was Passion that made you focus on that single most activity and give it all your energy.
It was Passion that showed you the mirror about who you truly are.
It did not judge,it did not expect,it just acted like a phantom force propelling you to do what you loved.
But If Passion could manifest itself in a Human form today and speak, one of the things it would crib about is how the human race has translated it into a yardstick to judge human potential instead of just letting it be the magical feeling that it is.
The Problem
Passion has become a judgement scale and if you are not following your passion , your life is supposed to be a waste. In short , you are not cool .
Your Passion has to become your work and it has to shoulder the weight of your finances as well.
Why ?
Why cant we let Passion just be the wonderful emotion that it is instead of trying to make it a factor for judging the completeness of a human life.
Why is such a high value being placed on “Searching for your Passion and doing that till you die” when instead we should just focus on doing the things we love in that moment without thinking of whether it becomes our wage earner.
I am not saying that if your Passion supports you financially, it is a meager achievement.
NO.
IT IS AMAZING.
But that should not be the primary objective. To always expect it to happen in case of every single individual is a little absurd.
Passion is divergent for every other person and if it is tied down by the weight of worldly expectations, then it inhibits the individual to be honest to that craft/skill/activity which he/she simply loves to do.
Innumerable websites, FB/Instagram pages and other social media platforms today are trying to take advantage of this philosophy of “Chasing your dreams and Passion” by claiming to show people how they can “make their life more fulfilling and complete”.
And don’t even get me started on the ones about “Entrepreneurship”.
Steve Jobs,Jack Ma,Jeff Bezos etc etc did it when there was no social media gibberish to “show them how its done”.
I am sure you will be fine too.
The reason being that there is no fixed path.
Every person commits to and develops their passion in their own way.
The only thing we as an individual owe our passion is to be honest to it and everything else will follow.
A quote i had heard somewhere sums it up beautifully :
The more you chase your passion, gain in terms of knowledge, the more you experience, the better person you become. That’s actually achievement.
Everything else is just the by- product.
