I could show you a graph of my weight history over the last 6 years where I’ve counted and not counted calories.
HINT: The places where I’ve counted, are the downward trends, all of the others, trend upward.
When you are counting, and living on a deficit, it makes a big difference what you eat. You want to get the maximum value from the foods you eat, so I also watch that. And, exercise, really should be a part of the plan as it keeps the body active.
I can’t give any technical details about any of this, but I can say it absolutely works. I see no value in your assertion that “it doesn’t work”, especially since you apparently have no valuable “alternative” to offer, just your opinion.
