Another Beautiful Day!

It was one of those usual working day for an office goer like me. I got up, had morning chores to attend to, had a good breakfast (Ok, so, here my readers, I make sure I enjoy and take my good time to relish my every breakfast 😋 ), booked my cab and enroute to office.
However, the only thing to be considered here is that, I was a pregnant woman that time, a soon mom-to-be lady! 🤰
Like that of every other mom-to-be, I started dreaming about the child. Suddenly my cab’s driver stops the vehicle and says, ‘Madam, please alight here, cab will not go further’. It was half way through my office travel and there is no way I am gonna get a better cab or price at that time of the day (The usual peak hours 😫). I asked him, why are you stopping midway? Any problem?
He said, the cab driver’s association has suddenly called for a strike against their management and he is afraid to travel anymore, as the destination is where he expects more agitation. He is tensed as the cab was on a mortgage and his whole family depends on this income.
At loss of words, I got out of the cab and stood on the safe corner of the road with my pot, prominent, pregnant belly 🤰. While the cab driver was helpless, trust me I was more helpless!
After waiting for like 7 minutes (trust me, we waited for 7 mins only. Yes, the cab driver waited with me too!), there came a auto rickshaw. He stopped the vehicle near me and understood the situation. He was ready to drop me at the office. I did not have any guts to ask him for the fare and I was ready to pay even 10x fares. (The city where I live does not work on auto meters but we bargain before the trip!)
He drives sensibly and I reach office safely. I got down and when checked for the fare, trust me, he charged me the actuals and I went ‘WOW’. He did not try to exploit my situation and gave a proper customer service.
Since then, he is my ‘personal driver’ and he carries the same dedication and compassion till date.
What did I learn from him?
- Do not try to exploit the desperate situations of your clients to finish a business deal. While, you may strike one deal at higher price, but the client will eventually move away.
- To have a long standing business relation, be dedicated & work with compassion.
- Customer service is all about serving / providing your clients with the best, when they least expect.
- Quality always matter. 👍
