I agree that the conflict theory is one of the key concepts taken away from chapter 1. It explains and represents so much of the toils and struggles faced in the history of the world. Like you said in your post, so many of the conflicts faced in history have claimed to be started over one thing, such as to defeat some kind of evil, but really began based on a materialistic reason or the want for power. And yet, no matter the reasoning behind these wars, tensions, or dilemmas, they almost always are the cause of some major social change.
