Let’s stop trivializing design work
Jonas Downey

I feel like the real lesson behind this is that a lot of people like obnoxious loudmouths. It probably says more about Trumps’ wildly successful bid for the Republican nomination than Instagram’s app redesign. Which when you get right down to it was a minor cosmetic refresher. The app is as functional as ever. So the real question is why do so many people queue up behind obnoxious loudmouths? Why is it so hard for so many to see that the loudmouth is self-serving? What is it in the way we are wired? It’s a mystery to me. And, I fear, in this connected world of info oversupply, this unflattering human tendency is not just being magnified but encouraged. Not here. You’re advocating for the opposite of what I’m talking about, empathy.
