Hey Uber, why do your drivers know where I live and work? (Updated)

I was in a Lyft Line last night. The other passenger picked up after me joked that he knew the cross streets of where I lived from seeing me picked up on the map, and that he knew my name from the photo. It’s true that places aren’t identified as ‘home’, but being picked up from a residential neighborhood at certain hours makes it a pretty good bet.

He was harmless, but I wonder if there’s a way to protect a passenger’s privacy while still revealing driver progress to another waiting passenger.
