I am glad you wrote this piece. Still, I think we really black [people need to parse out our relationships and beliefs surrounding “looks”, especially because our ideas of beauty are based on a European ideal. I would not acquiesce to the contention that Leslie (or you, for that matter) is plain or regular without pointing out and rebuking the standard that this description is based on.
