The KWHCoin partnership with Chariot Group is important developing a scaleable model for Kenyans and village populations globally to develop sustainable localized economies driven my renewable energy generation, clean water and organic farming.

KWHCoin and Chariot Group are partnering to develop blockchain based renewable energy, clean water and organic agriculture production ecosystems in rural Kenya with plans to scale the model to off grid populations on all continents.

KWHCoin is already development partner with Nurse in Hand (NIH) to launch an application and web based emergency response system in Kenya. Kenyan startup Nurses in Hand has partnered KWHCoin for an IOT collaboration to develop a totally green emergency response system for the Kenyan Roadway Network.

The goal of the collaboration is to develop and build unique sustainable token and value driven models at village level then scale to other areas in Kenya, Africa and off grid populations globally.

Project Overview

Kilisa village in Kitetat location, Makueni County in Kenya has been selected to be the site for developing the model due to community good will and success stories on the ground.

Background on Kilisa Village

Kilisa village has a population of 2000 and is one of the villages in Kiteta Location with a population of 23,250. The location extends from low land with a network of streams to the slopes of Mbooni mountain. The community is highly interactive and therefore any initiative in Kilisa village will have significant spill over impact in the location. Kilisa village is of low socio economic status and typical of many other villages in Kenya.

KWHCoin Board Member Dr. Mwalali, whose residence is in Kilisa village, is part of Kilisa community by birth. Since 1980s he continues to promote community participation in development. As a result, Kilisa community in Kilisa leads in Project management expertise and implementation of innovative community based initiatives.

The community recognizes the role of partners in development and has experience working with multiple partners including the Africa Economic Foundation (AEF) and the US peace corps volunteers. Dr Mwalali co-founded and registered AEF in Kenya to provide technical support as well as helping build partnerships in support of community initiatives. Some of the successes recorded with the support of these partners include water harvesting through the sinking of Shallow wells, construction of Sand dams and rehabilitation/desilting of surface dams.

KWHCoin and the Chariot Group are working to develop “Center of Excellence” (COE) models to clearly demonstrate the application of collaboration and sustainable technologies.

The Model describe here is meant to build on these successes stories by closing the gaps and strengthening existing projects to complete a Center of Excellence for community based initiatives.

The Center Of Excellence Model

  • Identifying communities in need and a school willing to participate in the model.
  • Sensitizing the leadership and the community on the intent to work with them to set up water and solar income generating initiatives.
  • Conducting a rapid baseline socio economic study (including type of energy used at home and experiences, knowledge about solar etc) upon which to base the design, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment of the Model.
  • Setting up Centers Of Excellence (COE) for piloting and perfecting income generation initiatives. Each Center Of Excellence will then become a training and demonstration site for the surrounding community and also for communities we plan to involve in the expansion phase. The goal is to set up at least one COE for each county.

A complete Center Of Excellence (COE) will feature two components:

School based component:

A deep well that will yield enough water to support small scale irrigation will be drilled at the selected school. Based on MOUs with the school and the surrounding community, the water will be used to train students and community on income generating agri-biz with the objective of training a pool of entrepreneurs.

The partnership will apply the Build- Operate and Transfer (BOT) approach in developing these entrepreneurs. In that approach, the partnership will, jointly with the school and the community, manage the income generation projects until return of investment after which the ownership of the Bore hole and ongoing Agro-biz projects are transferred to the school and the surrounding community. This process will be tokenized in standards developed by KWHCoin and provide another value mechanism in the ecosystem.

After transfer of ownership, the partnership will continue to offer any required support as appropriate. Tree nursery keeping, Grape farming, agro-ponics and Fish framing are some of the water based income generating initiatives being contemplated.

Energy Generation and Distribution

Regarding Solar energy, an Off Grid Box will be installed in the school and Solar based income generating initiatives set up. The terms will be microfinancing, and the BOT approach will apply. Apart from the income, another major impact will be expected is improvement on the quality of education. The solar energy will facilitate evening and IT studies enhancing the quality of education, thus making the village kids competitive when they meet the privileged urban kids.

KWHCoin product assortment that Kilisa Village members will have access through the token, application and web based solutions being designed by KWHCoin and Teleficient partnership.

“This is an ambitious project that will provide immeasureable knowledge and insights on how we can scale solutions. We now have a platform to offer an array of energy and technology solutions and this will allow us as an ecosystem to set up clear standards of measurement to scale our wins and dig deeper when there are friction points in development,” says KWHCoin CEO Girard Newkirk.

KWHCoin is currently being traded on TOPBTC, Coinexmarket and Bitfex.trade and continues to expand into a global renewable energy solutions platform that is servicing the 1.2 billon people globally without energy access along with underserved populations that lack reliable energy service.
