What are Cybercrimes and what can be used to assist in preventing cyberattacks?

Have you or someone you know ever fallen victim to identity theft, Phishing, or even cyber stalking? Identity theft and cyber stalking are just two types of cybercrimes that goes on in the world today. The Wikipedia defines cybercrime, or computer oriented crime, as“Offenses that are committed against individuals or groups of individuals with a crime motive to intentionally harm the reputation of the victim directly or indirectly, using modern telecommunication networks such as Internet (networks including but not limited to Chat rooms, emails, notice boards and groups) and mobile phones (Bluetooth/SMS/MMS).” Cybercrimes may threaten a person or nation’s security and financial health.

In this video, Adam Anderson gives a talk at a TEDx event. He speaks about cybercrime and ways to prevent cyberattacks. Adam Anderson is a entrepreneur and author. He is the founder and chairman of Palmetto Security Group (PSG), an IBM Premier Cyber Security Business Partners. He has 20 years in cybersecurity and 13 of those years he was a small business owner.

Srini Sampalli is a Professor and 3M National Teaching Fellow in the Faculty of Computer Science. Srini speaks about cybersecurity and in his opinion, the top five emerging cybersecrity challenges. He has more than 20 years of teaching and research experience in computer science. This talk was also given at a TEDx event.
