Last August I wrote about how excited I was to be joining Chartio. Chartio’s main office and headquarters is in San Francisco and the majority of employees are there. We have been busy establishing an office in Virginia and I’m happy to announce that last week we signed a lease to move into The Brownstone building in downtown Blacksburg! This is Chartio’s first satellite office and we’ve got big plans for it!

Our new office will have over 2400 square feet of office space in an ideal spot downtown. The Brownstone is a four story multi-use commercial building that completed construction in 2015. The first floor is street level and is dedicated to retail shops and restaurants. The second floor (where we will be located) is dedicated to offices for businesses. The third and fourth floors consists of residential apartments. We will be within walking distance of all the downtown restaurants, shops, and nearby Virginia Tech.

We will be the first tenant of our new suite so we will be working with an architect to build out the space specifically for our needs. The layout will have open seating with lots of conference rooms for meetings and one-on-one’s. We expect this location can support over 15 employees. The office also has a large dedicated balcony that sits over Main Street. The build-out of the space will take 3–4 months so we should be able to move in just before summer starts. I can’t wait for the grand opening party!!!

Since joining Chartio we have hired 3 engineers in Blacksburg, bringing the total number of employees in Blacksburg to five. We plan to hire another 5 engineers over the next year and an additional 10–15 over the next three years in Blacksburg. We have also hired 4 engineers at our San Francisco headquarters since joining and we will continue hiring product and engineering resources there too.

Working at Chartio over the last 7 months has been an amazing experience. It’s great to work with such a passionate group and talk to so many customers who love our product. We are super excited about our 2018 plans, if you are interested in joining our team please contact me (kevin@chartio.com)!

And a special thanks to Brian Hartsock, Karen Camp, and Dave Fowler who all worked on getting the deal completed.
