Nothing Changes, if Nothing Changes
If you know something isn’t right, you should change it — right?
I think our guts are extremely powerful. They can be trusted to give us our true feelings when we’re unsure. They are a warning siren, and the only way to silence them, is to take action.
Outwardly we might wear the painted smile and carry on as usual, but inside there’s a nagging. We hope it’ll pass, but the voice in our heads keeps saying ‘What if? What if there is something else that I’m meant to be doing?’
I’m not usually one for quotes, but Einstien put this beautifully:
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
It doesn’t actually take a genius to figure this one out, but Einstein was spot on. I have sat back and moaned and complained, listened to others moaning and joined in, but done absolutely nothing.
I waited for something to happen to me, but you guessed it — it didn’t!
We can procrastinate all we like, busying ourselves with insignificant rubbish, trying to justify why we can’t do anything about it. If we don’t change our behaviours or attitudes, then nothing will change.
Sleep, wake, work, repeat…
If we keep doing the same things, seeing the same people and having the same experiences, over and over again, we’re going to live the same life over and over again.
Apart from being exceptionally boring, living the same life year after year with little variance is not appealing.
Life is short, and this is truer the older you get. Before you know it, months have passed and things are still the same, except you’re probably more frustrated at yourself for not taking any action.
What to do?
Change things up. Don’t waste your time scrolling on your phone, or binging box sets. Do something different, try seeing things from a new angle.
Read, learn and interact with other humans that cheer you on and inspire you. Don’t listen to the voice in your head that tells you that you aren’t good enough or you can’t do it, because you bloody well can!
Don’t settle for what you think is possible. Aim high, dream big and embrace failure.
The future is bright, don’t let it pass you by.
