Esports is a growing industry, and like every expanding market, there are many ways to get a piece of the pie. Therefore, today we’re going to talk a little bit about five ways in which you can make money from esports.

1. Investing

The best way to make a profit with any market is to invest in its growth. This is something that celebrities like Will Smith, Messi, and Neymar Junior are already doing. These guys are already investing by sponsoring teams for games like FIFA, Formula 1, Tekken and League of Legends.

It is not just artists and famous sportsmen who are entering this market. Some industry giants like Samsung have years of exploiting gains from the growth of esports through sponsorship of League of Legends, Starcraft and Dota2 teams.

Also, many international sports clubs have been investing in their own teams to secure their place in major cups. Thus, we see how the basketball club Philadelphia 76ers, or the football club Paris Saint-Germain also have counter-strike, League of Legends and Overwatch teams.

Note: you can also invest in companies that already have public shares to achieve profits through their growth.

2. Broadcasting esports

The content about esports has become quite popular which allows you to make good profits. On the one hand, big firms like ESPN, Fox, and HBO have dedicated themselves to obtaining coverage rights of the most important tournaments. However, there is also a fairly profitable market when it comes to broadcasting live games.

Thus, streaming channels such as Twitch or YouTube, which were the first to give the industry space, serve as a nest for players who want to make money from their Gameplay. Besides, these streaming channels also have the rights to cover the most emblematic tournaments such as the lol Worlds (League of Legends), the Blizzcon, and the International (Dota2).

3. Web content

Just as audiovisual content has become quite lucrative, hundreds of websites dedicated to one or more games in this niche have been born.

Among other things, you can make money by offering guides about the games, statistics, news, tournament monitoring, or simply patch and update analysis. To be honest though, at this point it’s a bit difficult to compete against the wikis.

4. Betting

The Gambling Industry has made sure to take its share of the growth in esports as it does in traditional sports. Thus, there are hundreds of betting centers that now have esports match and tournament options on their grids.

However, given the nature of electronic sports, you are more likely to find betting options on sports betting sites, or esports betting sites than on physical bookmakers near your home.

5. Competitive gaming

If you are skilled enough to embark on this territory, you can choose a game that is to your liking, practice and qualify in regional tournaments to start enjoying the prize winnings.

How much can you make? The prizes of the most popular games vary between $5000 and $3000000 depending on the tournament’s rank. But as a rule, you could take home about $5000 just by winning a small tournament in a shopping mall.

In the end

Esports are a constantly growing industry that in 2017 already exceeded one billion dollars in revenue and presents a growth curve of more than 25%. Do you know another way to take advantage of it?
