Video marketing is outperforming in Facebook
The companies and marketers are struggling to maintain facebook page because it is becoming more and more expensive to maintain, make it looks active and engaging. More and more of your posts in facebook page are getting less and less likes. Even a facebook fan page with over 150,000 followers are struggling to have a few likes in every post unless the posts are paid to facebook for promoting it.
Does it sound like your problem too? Recently, we discovered that Video posts in eventnook’s facebook page surprised us! It really outperformed and drove more organic views and traffic (in Singapore and countries with reasonably good internet speed) than paid and promoted post. We like to share our recent experience with it.
Quick Facts about Facebook
- The facebook is still one of the greatest channel ever with over 1 billion daily active users (DAU) who spend about average min. 20 mins daily.
- The average facebook user now has over 400 friends
- The average facebook user follows over 70 pages in US in 2013. Probably, it may be now above 200 pages followed per user.
- 1.51 billion mobile active users (Source: Facebook as of 27-Apr-2016)
- Average users may do 5 to 20 activities (Guestimation) such as post status update, share photos (E.g., holiday photos, food, some interesting photo, etc.), like something, share news, etc.
Let’s do a simple math! How many posts will create in a news feed of each user? Here is a conservative formula
Total Posts = (400 friends X avg. 2 posts or share/day) + (200 pages X 1 post /day) + All Sponsored Ads
Apparently, there are more than 1,000 posts daily from all friends and pages. It’s impossible to see all posts and the posts to stand out. However, facebook shows the prioritised posts of most relevant and interactive friends and pages. Anyway, it will still be a lot of posts to penetrate to stand out your page post. That’s why we are getting less and less likes.
We started creating video for eventnook because we wanted to communicate and educate better to our customer about eventnook (http://www.eventnook.com), showcases of what we have done and case study, etc.. And we wanted to inspire people with our technology too. That’s where video perfectly fits!
I always thought creating such a good quality video is costly because it can cost from a couple of hundreds to a couple of thousands dollar. But it always doesn’t have to be the case. (We use our own Mobile Phone video camera, Free tool like Apple iMovie and Youtube online video editing tool. With these 3 simple tools, you can easily come out with simple and professional looking video within half a day. )
Here is the video which we created to educate our customers about eventnook product. It’s hard to communicate to our customers how it works. With 50 seconds video below, our customers can learn how powerful and simple it is. (FYI: we use iPhone camera, Apple iMovie and Free music from Soundcloud to make this video — simple, professional and less than 4 hours of time)
Here is another exciting demo of how our app handle very large event. How do we demonstrate without a video?
And what’s really interesting after we posted it to our Facebook page is — we got number of organic views and likes which is higher than a paid and promoted good quality article or post. Here is our analysis.
- Our staff are proud to share it to their friends and they can explain better to their friends about what they do at eventnook
- Our friends can now see what we do and they love our demo video showcase. And some of them are proud of sharing it too.
- As the content is engaging and interesting, facebook algorithm gives priority to show up the content which engages. (Facebook needs to ensure to show the quality contents otherwise, users may not come back if they see a lot of crap contents every day. )
- And every engaging Like by a facebook user, it shows up more to their friends and their friends started viewing and liking it.
- And As video is a new hot thing in facebook — facebook is competing with snapchat and youtube for video to keep active users day to day with great contents, we guessed facebook might be pushing more video contents in this time of current competition. (Note: facebook already owns instagram for photos)
In fact, Video marketing is not a new thing. It used to be huge in TV in the old days. Now, it has been democratised due to internet and just coming back to internet platforms as video streaming is becoming smooth and fast! And you can broadcast it on your own audience without TV
Lastly, here is an additional #tip if you happen to be an event organiser:
- Imagine if you are an organiser of marathon or festival event, promoting it with a video which people can see how the event would be so much fun, you are going to drive more ticket sales!
