Ideation 2/8
- Our quiz section was given the task to create ideas related to commuting. I gave myself a few parameters to focus the project and assist me in creating ideas. I decided to develop new methods of transportation, specifically modern methods that would substantially improve people's commutes. I did not sketch ideas that would be less efficient than current ideas. I ended up using inspiration from current ideas like high-speed rail, subways, hoverboards, and Elon Musk’s Hyperloop. My final idea was an expansion on the Hyperloop to be a combination of a train and the Hyperloop. It would have the accommodations of a train, including sleeping quarters, a dining hall, a lounge, and a bar, and the efficiency of the Hyperloop. My favorite idea was my idea for Helicopter shoes. This stemmed from Jesus’s ability to walk on water, and I sketched an idea that allowed a normal person to do the same.

2. I really enjoyed the sketching process because it gave me a creative outlet without the goal of high-quality drawing, but rather high-quality ideas. I am an aspiring entrepreneur and this helped me practice the skill of sketching so that I can better sketch my entrepreneurial ideas in the future.I had challenges thinking up enough alterations to my initial Hyperloop-esq idea. I tried to overcome this difficulty by developing different models for different users, one for businessmen, one for long commutes, and even one for partyers. I enjoyed having my own sketchbook that allowed me to organize and collect my ideas in a location that feels intended for free thinking.
3. Wildcard: What skills did you learn from this project?
The first most obvious skill was the ability to sketch for ideation. I have sketched a few times before, but it has been primarily for artistic purposes. This gave me the opportunity to improve my visual representation skills in sketching rather than artistic quality. I also improved my ability to further an idea and evolve its initial design. I frequently have product ideas that fizzle out because I cannot get past the first stage of working out the kinks and tailoring it to its specific purpose. This sprint allowed me to evolve my design and tweak it in a variety of directions.
