Staying Disciplined
Staying disciplined is always the hardest part of anything. Talking and describing a vision / goal is easy — anyone can do it. But when it comes to getting others to believe in the vision / goal — you need to first demonstrate discipline.
At Teem we are creating a meeting cadence which keeps the product team disciplined and focused on the items which help us achieve our vision. It starts each Monday where we spend time re-focusing on the important items:
- It starts by meeting with the entire Teem family focused on our strategic items.
- Immediately following, Product gives a 15 minute update of all the progress to the company.
- Next comes the Product team sync where we meet about house-keeping items as a team.
- Then we jump into Product-Development daily stand-ups.
- Early afternoons on Monday we spend time as a Product team working together where we share, compare and mentor.
- Planning sessions and stand-ups are organized around lunch so that our development team is able to have intense focus in the morning and afternoons.
- Finally, the Product team blocks time in the afternoons on Tuesday — Thursday to focus on professional development. This is where we do 1:1s and focus on bettering ourselves.
When Teem achieves it’s vision, it will be a result of our discipline and commitment to making it happen. This is why we are setting up each day, week, month, quarter and year to get there.
A huge shout out to those who keep us on track: Dal Adamson, Harley Jessop, Deanna Walters and Morgan Williams. Also, thanks to those who have given us this opportunity: Shaun Ritchie and Zach Holmquist.
