Extra context here that non-Atlanta fans don’t think about (not that you should): up and down the expectations from the media / analyst community was that the Falcons would have a horrible year. Matt was the fourth best QB in our division, they’d lose most of our games, Dan Quinn was on the hot seat, etc. The Ringer’s Kevin Clark analysis of the team in Week 2 was: “Some quick Atlanta analysis: The Falcons are bad.” For this team to be 8–5, with this strength of schedule, is awesome.

This team still has challenges, especially on defense, but as a fan in the weeds since that brutal NFC Championship loss (and uncalled holding penalty) in 2012, the Birds this year have been a delight.
