Until recently I was in good/bad movie denial.

Same here! I came across “Road House” even later than you. At about 31. I couldn’t believe I had never seen it before. I too didn’t think about it as good bad. It was just very ’80s and under certain metrics I thought it could be considered the greatest ’80s movie of all time. After reading this article’s more precise definition of “good bad” and the plot breakdown of “Road House,” I suppose it is terrible. But definitely in the best of ways. I don’t care what The Ringer’s formula says. “Road House” is easily the good bad GOAT.
