A getaway: a location that you can escape to and have confidence in it being yours for the time being.
The world makes socializing and popularity the biggest priority of all, but is it okay to set different priorities and get away from it all once in a while? Of course. Escaping on your own does not have to have the connotation of loneliness. It is thereapeutic and so refreshing to slip away from people and responsibilities for a little while. Take time for yourself. This time can be to figure things out, absorb the beauty of nature, escape to a new world in a book, or simply just be. The possibilities are endless.
I have several of these destinations. Each unique, holding different emotions in my heart. The happy getaway is a place where I jump up and sing and sometimes even jump in. The sad getaway is where I usually sit and probably overthink things. There are so many reasons to go to a getaway but the best part is that you don’t always have to have one. The getaway is personalized. Someone could use that same location for a completely different purpose, emotion, or feeling. It’s entirely up to you.
You never know what you will discover about people and the world until you escape them both. Try it. The challenge is not where your getaway will be but when you will decide to go there.
