I feel like this might be too much of a broad stroke over the term “personal branding”.

I do agree that majority of people approach it like it’s some sort of magic pill, which annoys the shit out of me.

But like a lot of things, to view something separate from the rest of it’s parts is shortsighted and unrealistic.

It’s no different to telling someone trying to lose weight that “drinking more water is a waste of time”. It may not work on it’s own, but it’s an integral part of the weightloss solution. Life is about balance.

The same goes for personal branding. It’s only a part of the marketing vehicle, but an important part no less. It needs development and requires hard work to reap its benefits in order for it to be truly effective.

I do agree with what you’re getting at, but I also think that being so one-sided about the topic can do more harm than good for upcoming entrepreneurs.
