I’m a trans alum as well, and I wanted to write a letter to the President and also the Board, but I’m only a year out of Hollins so I don’t know how much sway I really have — There’s got to be some kind of way to round up the rest of the troops and write to the board not just how it is frustrating that they’re falling so far behind, but also include why trans students would be positive additions to the culture of campus. I know that I wouldn’t have found strength in my trans identity as easily without the people and environment at Hollins, which is incredibly open and caring, except for, it seems, the administration. Hollins was built for the gender minority — just at the time it was thought that the only gender minority was women. Trans people absolutely fit there.
Wom?n who are going places…
