Swallowing hard, you try to figure out for the twentieth time how you ended up in front of your building’s elevator at 3 a.m. You know the game is nothing but an urban legend from Japan. Yet, underneath that thought is a layer of doubt. What if it’s not just a game?
You push the negativity back down. You told your friends you would play, so you’ll play. Also, there are rules. As long as you obey the rules, you’ll be fine, whether the game is real or not.
You look at your hand, where you’ve written the order of floors to visit. According to your friends, who are way more into this sort of stuff than you are, the elevator will transport you to another dimension if you do this game or a ritual if you are being technical.
Stepping into the elevator, you curse yourself for doing this so late. Of course, the dark scares you, not the unlikely chance your soul will end up in a scary void.
