Subject Matter Expert (SME) as a Service.
Become an online “guru” while you sleep.
You’re probably very busy so here’s the “tldr” condensed version:
You need to establish yourself online as a subject matter expert.
BUT:
- You don’t have time for video (YouTube)
- You don’t have time for blogging
- You’re not great on camera and aren’t good at creative writing
- Your social media activity has not helped to establish you as an expert
- Witty Tweets and vacation Instagram photos haven’t drawn in more clients
I’ve got the solution for you.
You’ve likely been seeing tons of online content from online gurus you follow.
LinkedIn influencers, Instagram stars, they all draw in millions of dollars of business each year. This all looks very enticing and you can (probably) do the same.
Here’s the tough news.
You’ve already spent years mastering your trade. It’s not worth your time learning how to promote yourself online.
Time is your most valuable resource. 🕙
Your clients who are paying you today won’t pay you more or extend contracts with you because of your fancy new social media pages. They might even see this as a distraction. I’ve seen it happen.
You’re probably now wondering:
“How can I establish myself online without breaking my back to learn a bunch of new skills?”
When an executive or a sales person looking for help with an emerging technology searches my name, they find jewels 💎 I’ve sprinked all over the web. These jewels also come up if they are searching a specific question.
These little bits of information gains their trust in me before we’ve even met.
By time they reach out, they’re already salivating because they know I have the solutions to all their pain points (guru).
You’re not getting enough top-dollar clients because there’s no online proof that you’re an expert.
Luckily, I can establish you as a subject matter expert online. Turning yourself into an authority online will not only boost your credibility, potential clients won’t even bother to look elsewhere.
So how do I establish you as the go-to expert online?
There are really only three ways to establish yourself as a subject matter expert online:
- YouTube videos
- Blogging
- Quora
Each of the three options has its own strengths and weaknesses.
YouTube is a great way to establish yourself online because people searching how to do something or looking to learn a new skill look on YouTube. If you create great content, you can even earn money from your videos.
The major downside to YouTube is that creating and editing videos is extremely time consuming. This requires months or even years of dedication before you start to see any results.
Moreover, the success of your videos can reflect positively or poorly on you. A video with 50'000 views is sure to wow potential clients. An awkard video with under 500 views will make you the subject of jokes.
If you were a natural for video you’d already be on YouTube.
You have to ask yourself, “do I really have time to invest into YouTube?” Most successful people don’t.
If you do have the time, reach out to Raj Kotecha. He’s done video content for online leaders such as Accenture, Chivas, and even Gary Vaynerchuck.
Blogging: Are you a confident writer? Do you have a unique style of writing that matches your brand? Do you have the time for writing?
If the answer to all three questions is not YES then do not even bother starting. A blog with one low quality post won’t win you any points during your next sales pitch.
Informative content can drive qualified leads right to your inbox. At the very least, a blog will establish you as an SME. The best part is nobody can see how many views your articles get. Save face and make money.
“But how do the busiest, most successful people make time for blogging?”
All the real heavy weights use ghostwriters. Just like your favorite musicians, influencers, subject matter experts and executives use ghostwriters.
You don’t have time to sit and write lengthy articles multiple times a week. Frankly, your time is better spent doing what is already make you money.
With a ghostwriter you can enjoy the benefits of having a blog without the work.
If you’ve made it this far, suffice to say that I am decent writer.
Medium (this website) seems to agree!
With a bit of work, I have become a Top Writer on the subject of Investing.
I can create a blogging strategy and create blog posts for you. No spending time researching hashtags to give your posts more visibility, I can take care of this for you.
I have been blogging for years and nothing has attracted me more business than my blog posts.
You may recall there is third way to establish yourself online.
Valued at over $1.8 Billion dollars, Quora is the leading question and answer website. Quora is a great way to promote yourself as a subject matter expert or even to sell.
Luckily, I am a bonafide expert on Quora.
It only takes a few solid answers to establish yourself on Quora. There are few other clever tricks I’ve learned that help to increase engagement. Simply answering questions is not enough.
Don’t worry, I’ve long figured this out.
There are huge upsides to work I’ve put in on Quora.
When someone needs a consultant to help them design an iPad kiosk or roll out thousands of iPads, my name always comes up.
They see how many Apple related answers on Quora I’ve written. It becomes clear to them that I’m an expert in all things Apple.
From there the work just falls into my lap. It merely becomes a matter of creating the scope of work and signing contracts.
No resistance is what you want from your potential clients.
And this is what I am selling you.
You can become an online subject matter expert -sans the work.
Let’s face it. What makes you money isn’t your brand it’s your expertise.
How can someone truly gauge how knowledgeable you are from Twitter or Instagram? They can’t.
You need to establish yourself on a platform for subject matter experts.
Quora is the leading question and answer platform on the internet.
Blogs let potential clients see your thought process and build trust in you.
I’m an expert at both. Don’t waste your time, hire me and I’ll take care of the rest.
I am looking forward to turning you into the guru you’ve always wanted to be.
