I once asked an Imam what I should do in case I was no longer happy with my life. He told me that Prophet Mohammed PBUH said once: “If you feel oppressed, travel.” So I did.

Looking back, the reasons that pushed me to ask an imam at the time were diverse. I wouldn’t call myself a rebel then, but I was someone who wouldn’t easily accept the status-quo and I would usually speak up when I am disgruntled. I requestioned everything from religion, politics to social configurations and established truths. Of course, it raised red…
