9 Facts about Momoshiki Otsutsuki! Have You Seen Boruto’s Future?

Momoshiki Otsutsuki is a character who has appeared in three versions of the Boruto story: the movie, then the manga, then the anime series.

Basically the story is always the same. He came to Earth with Kinshiki, then wreaked havoc in the Chūnin Exams and finally had to be stopped by Naruto, Sasuke, and Boruto.

Even so, every time he appears, something new is added about Momoshiki. Interested in this one character? Let’s look at the most interesting Momoshiki Otsutsuki facts!

1. Momoshiki is from the main Otsutsuki clan

The history of the Otsutsuki derivative of Kaguya, the author feels, is already known by Navers. Hagoromo’s family is on Earth, while Hamura then goes to the moon. Hagoromo’s descendants are still developing, though they don’t have Otsutsuki traits anymore. Meanwhile the only one left on the moon is now Toneri Otsutsuki.

Unlike Hagoromo and Hamura who have human blood, Momoshiki Otsutsuki, Kinshiki Otsutsuki, and Urashiki Otsutsuki come from the core clan of the Otsutsuki family, the same as Kaguya before.

2. Momoshiki’s transformation form is different between movies and anime and manga series

In both the anime, manga and movie versions, Momoshiki always changes after absorbing Kinshiki. However, there is a significant difference between Momoshiki’s transformation form in the movie and the Boruto anime and manga series. The movie version of Momoshiki has red skin. This form also reminds the writer of one of Ukon’s transformations in Naruto first.

But starting from the manga version, and continuing later in the anime version, Momoshiki’s transformation changes. His appearance now has black crests, his hair is long, and his dojutsu is turning gold.

3. In the anime series, Momoshiki arrives late compared to the manga and movie versions

For the movie and manga versions, the moment of Momoshiki and Kinshiki’s arrival is the same. They were both present in the third round of the chunin exams, after Boruto was caught cheating.

However, the moment Boruto was caught cheating in the manga and movie occurred after Boruto’s duel against Shikadai. In the anime series, Boruto was caught cheating after he beat Shinki in the third round final.

So in the anime series, Momoshiki’s arrival is later than in the manga and movies.

4. Have seen the future of Boruto Uzumaki

One of the most interesting facts about Momoshiki Otsutsuki is that he has seen the future of Boruto Uzumaki.

Momoshiki has made some interesting comments during his interactions with Boruto. One of them, he predicted that Naruto’s great power would not be passed on to Boruto. Whatever happens to Boruto, it seems that this boy will not be strengthened by Kurama like his father.

The future Boruto seen in episode 1 also doesn’t use Kurama, but Jougan and Karma seals which are his unique skills.

Momoshiki also said that Boruto’s blue eyes will one day snatch everything from Boruto. Episode 1 of Boruto has also shown that Konoha will indeed be destroyed in the future, so Momoshiki’s prediction could be referring to that incident.

5. Boruto got the Karma seal for killing Momoshiki

Momoshiki’s death at the hands of Boruto causes a unique situation: a symbol called Kama/Karma appears in Boruto’s hand.

The Karma Seal allows Boruto to use Momoshiki’s most prominent power: absorbing jutsu from other people, including the jutsu Zanma no Shinmai which according to its user (Kashin Koji) cannot be extinguished.

This means that if Boruto’s Karma seal is strengthened again, he might be able to absorb even jutsu like Amaterasu. Interestingly, this means that Boruto has the power of two Otsutsuki. His Jougan eyes there was a strong indication given by Toneri. Then the Karma seal was made by Momoshiki.

6. Currently, Boruto is Momoshiki’s vessel

Boro from the Kara organization revealed that Boruto is indeed Momoshiki’s container at the moment.

If you are confused about the container concept: Otsutsuki from the main clan can transfer to another body. Then the Otsutsuki has the potential to take over the body they are sitting on.

Yes. Momoshiki can also hijack Boruto’s body. When Momoshiki took control of Boruto’s body, Boruto didn’t even realize he was being moved by someone else.

7. Coming to Naruto world without information preparation

Momoshiki seems so arrogant that in the anime series he comes to the shinobi world without knowing much about the situation there. This is different from Urashiki, who even before coming here already knew about Toneri Otsutsuki’s conflict in The Last: Naruto the Movie.

In the anime series, there’s not even a hint that Momoshiki knows about Toneri. Urashiki himself moves around outside of Momoshiki’s control, including attacking former Jinchuriki like Gaara.

8. Momoshiki can hijack Boruto’s body whenever Boruto exerts too much energy

When this article is updated (30/9/2021), Momoshiki has hijacked Boruto’s body twice. First when Boro almost finished off Boruto, second after the fight against Isshiki ended.

Sasuke analyzes in chapter 54 that Boruto lost consciousness because he used too much chakra. There’s a high possibility that’s why Momoshiki materialized.

At that time, Sasuke theorized that if Boruto’s chakra was restored, Boruto could return.

Sasuke’s theory was correct. After Kawaki forces Momoshiki to absorb the chakra fire, Boruto returns.

9. Sasuke’s Rinnegan destroyer

Momoshiki was the one who stabbed Sasuke’s Rinnegan.

He did this in chapter 53, after hijacking Boruto’s body.

Now, unless Sasuke can restore it, he will lose the Rinnegan’s immense power.
