So here’s a sentence I never thought I’d say “Today we went to the tractor rally races”

Oh man, this Cali girl is adopting some heehaw.

Factor in that I live in a very small village in Czech Republic and have a toddler son that has just discovered tractors, then you can easily see why attending this event was a no-brainer.

As soon as we walked up and he saw the tractors his face lit up.

The row of competitors

The rally was in a small village about 20 minutes away from our village. Our entrance fee was 30kc (about $1 each). As is the case with any event in Czech there was beer and klobasa for purchase.

The “festival” grounds

They had tractors of all different sizes and styles compete. It was very amusing.

While they were not competing, the tractors were lined up to check out and “play with”. Nakoa loved sitting on and in the tractors and playing with their big steering wheels.

There were also several motorbikes and cars to check out, including this Velorex below.

We were there for about 2 hours and spent $6 bucks total with entrance, food, beers, and ice cream. I love the simplicity of events here. There’s usually no more notice than poster on a village billboard. And to attend an event isn’t a full day commitment, nor do you feel obligated to.

I find myself doing and enjoying things I never thought I would. (like, umm, tractor rallys) So far the village life is a good one.
